We understand there are huge pressures on our local hospitals and primary care services. We equally understand the frustrations both emotionally and physically the patients waiting for appointments causes.
All referrals to the hospital are effectively triaged by them and sometimes downgraded from urgent to routine or even rejected. If your symptoms have deteriorated please inform the surgery which can be done through completing an eConsult with reasons things have worsened.
This information can be passed to the hospital. However, in general we are unable to chase referrals as we receive the same information you do.
It is much more effective if you contact the hospital directly via the appointments line to chase this up. If you have any issues in doing so you should contact the hospitals complaint line known as PALS – Patient Advice and Liaison Service.
